Nobody can know the 2027 Boston Marathon cutoff until registration closes and the BAA counts applications. This tool uses a working estimate of about 5:15 under the standard, with a wide range of roughly 3:30 to 7:00. It is an estimate, not an official figure.
What moves the 2027 cutoff
- How many fast runners apply. More marathon finishers and fast weather at qualifying races push the cutoff up.
- Field size. A larger qualifier field lowers the cutoff, a smaller one raises it.
- The new downhill adjustment. For 2027 the BAA discounts part of the time run on steeply net-downhill courses, which could thin the fast end and lower the cutoff.
- The 2026 standards. Standards were tightened 5 minutes for under-60 runners for 2026 and stay the same for 2027, which already removed some applicants.
